Love it! Rock it! Own it!

When I get dressed I always think: "Where am I going and what fashion mood am I in?"

The answers to these questions determine which choices I make with my clothes, shoes and accessories - ultimately giving me an outfit I can feel confident and stylish in.

"Fashion shouldn't be taken too seriously. You've got to have fun with it, to make it work"
Every edition I am going to share with you:

**What’s in my Wardrobe**

With the Rio Olympic games about to begin, I was inspired by Brazil and its wonderful carnivals. Lots of bright colours and vibrant music, people dancing and singing, wearing wild and fabulous costumes decorated with flowers, feathers and jewels - a mad, joyous, chaotic street-party atmosphere!

This thinking led to my idea for a carnival shoot. Hilary could go wild with the hair, and Jenna could use the most vibrant colours to paint my face. We could incorporate flowers in the hair and throw in as much colour as possible.

The outfit came together like a dream.

The ‘Crista’ ruffled lace, off-the-shoulder top in pink was by Alexis. This was teamed with a white lace maxi skirt by Alex + Olivia, with a fabulous Roberto Cavalli floral scarf, edged with multi coloured tassels, tied around my waist which put the ‘Rio’ into this wardrobe ‘trio’!

The colours and flowers in the scarf complimented the flowers I wore in my hair, creating a fabulous carnival inspired ensemble. Combine this with loud music and a hot female dance troupe, we were all set to sashay and samba.

Nails: Tara from Irresistible Beauty made my carnival dream nails a reality. She painted the nails with CND Shellac in Studio White, carefully scattering Lecente Glitter in Starlet Multi-glitz on the bottom half of the nails.

Thank you Tara. The nails were an explosion of colour - totally befitting of the Brazilian Carnival brief.

Hair: Created and styled by Hilary Jones from Pimped Up Pins hair salon. I’ll hand you over to Hilary to explain how she achieved this month’s wild hair and flowers combo!

“Ola”Hilary

The brief this month was Brazilian Carnival - for me this conjured up huge, bright, colourful flowers. The flowers would be the main act with Emma’s hair playing the supporting role.

The night before the shoot I curled Emma’s hair with GHD straighteners, pinning the curls in place.

At the shoot the hair was taken out, with the front of the hair twisted back into small sections and secured with grips - this would be the foundation to support the flowers which were placed along the front hairline.

With the flowers in place, I secured two large bun rings behind them to create height, pinning the hair to cover them.

The rest of Emma’s hair was backcombed to make it look wild and wonderful - a colossal -Sugarloaf?! - mountain of hair and flowers! Big, bold, bright and ‘Hil-hair-ious’ fun to create.

**’Jenna-rate’ the look**

JennaHi guys. Welcome to the all new and improved JK column!

So... Emma and I have put our heads together to see how we could revamp this feature... when we first started this column we thought it was best to describe the look I was creating each month, step by step... However, we started to tire of the format recently. 12 months in - happy birthday to us - have we mentioned it recently?! - we wondered how we could put the ‘vamp’ into revamp!

Read on... and I will let you into my little JK brain! (Well I say little, I’m actually quite clever... sometimes (no heckling at the back please!), so maybe it’s a really really big brain...or maybe that’s just my hair).

My head - especially when my creative juices are flowing - is a very fun and messy place to be. So we thought why bombard you with lots of words when you can easily get step by step guides courtesy of those nice people at Google? Each month I’m going to let you in on my ‘process’...my scrap book, mood board - call it what you will - and idea planning for every month’s shoot, and how I come up with the look. After all, they do say a picture paints a thousand words...
I’m hoping it will inspire you all to create and step out of your comfort zones!

Good Luck!

CARNIVAL

My personal Queen of Carnival and all time girl crush... Rhi Rhi.

Rihanna is an absolute babe and never fails to wow us with her bejewelled nipples, wonderfully beaded thongs and feathers that make her 8ft tall!

I mean what more could you want?!

My challenge? Turn Rihanna’s carnival style into a makeup look for Emma. (She wouldn’t wear a beaded thong...I did try!)

I took my inspiration from the drama and colours of Rihanna’s looks as well as the multicoloured Cavalli scarf Emma had tied around her waist, basing the look around blue and green-toned eyes - the aquamarine tones also beautifully echo the colour of the water lapping on Rio de Janeiro’s infamous Copacabana beach - and a fuchsia lip like Rhi Rhi herself in the images below! Just don’t blame me if you can’t get Barry Manilow’s Copacabana song out of your head after reading this...
