I’m from Swansea in South Wales, and I’m 23 years old. I think it’s important to note here - though you’ve probably already noticed from my photo - that I use a wheelchair in my everyday life.

My friends and family will read that and sigh “yeah, we know”...

This is because I have a condition called Cerebral Palsy (CP). Embarrassingly enough, I had to learn more about CP, because a stranger once asked more questions about it that I couldn’t actually answer... *bit awks like*.

Point being, yes, I am disabled; but growing up, I was just a little girl, who sat in a little wheelchair. To my parents, I was simply Emily Nicole, their daughter/diva hahaha!!

I remember my mum saying to me in my teens that “the world didn’t revolve around me”. And I was genuinely shocked and appalled!

My life has been plenty of things, but boring isn’t one of them…

I am loud, gobby, unapologetic, and POSITIVE and I’ll be sharing random thoughts, with my unique sense of humour and potty mouth on all magazine-related topics, every month. Reading is believing!

“The Year of the Tiger”

As 2022 is upon us, chocolate boxes are soon-to-be sewing kit storage, and the black bag full of wrapping paper hiding your favourite gifts is already being recycled into cups and straws as I write.

The important point I’m trying to make (while going round the houses) is, everything AND everyone CAN be revitalised.

Whether you actually have willpower and didn’t blame not starting your New Years resolutions on a bank holiday. Or, whether you take things at your own pace…

This year is a great opportunity to try new things, find new opportunities and be even more awesome than before!!!

I must admit, even though I love a good horoscope prediction. (I only ever listen to the positives, obviously).

I have rarely looked into the Chinese Zodiac. So according to the font of all knowledge - Google.

2022 is the year of the Tiger.

On first impression, I hope it’s a cuddly toy tiger or a Disney depiction because I don’t think anyone could handle a year governed by brutality and claws (sharper than my mind at 4:05am when I have work in the morning).

The Chinese zodiac says that my spirit animal (and I don’t mean my nickname when I have too many beveraginos) is a tiger too.

Without reading the paragraph of why I’m a tiger in another life, I shrugged and thought: ‘Year of the tiger, I’m a tiger... Guess it’s my year then!!”

Regardless, the point of my piece is just to congratulate everyone for trudging through the mud of 2020 and 2021. I am proud of you and you are stronger than you know.

And yes, the sentiment still holds if you manage to only eat healthily for one hour, go to the gym for three days or don’t ditch the booze and actually, decide to consume more of it!!

If these last few years have inspired me at all, they have inspired me most to be happy and chase enjoyment in life. Not that I could chase anything that well, let’s be honest!!

Do what makes you smile, NOT what stresses you out to the nines.

I’d be a crap life coach, but you only get one. So, my philosophy is, have a blast!! Provided it’s not illegal or divinely unethical, of course!

Love
