We are living in a world where the internet reigns supreme, and Social Media is judge, jury and executioner.

The internet can be a great place to meet people, have fun, promote your business, educate yourself and be creative, plus you have access to online books, films and music and creativity from different cultures all around the world, bringing people together.

However - even to the most IT-literate and digital -savvy of us - it can also be a distressing, confusing, dangerous, and dark place, where malicious and vicious people, known as ‘trolls’ hide behind their keyboards, intentionally inflicting hate and misery on anyone, for no good reason other than they want to provoke and promote negativity, manipulate and hurt people for their own amusement. Or, like a spoilt child, they don’t like you or anything you say, so behind the cowardly cyber cloak of anonymity, these keyboard warriors have their say, giving their opinion whether it’s wanted or warranted, and NOT in a good way!

Just in case they didn’t know, there is an absolutely genius feature online: If you don’t like something or don’t agree with what you're reading or seeing… just simply scroll on by! It’s that easy. Step away from the keypad folks. Nothing to see here!

We’re pretty similar to Governments who adopt the same approach with terrorists - zero tolerance; they will NOT negotiate; we here at the magazine adopt a similar stance with internet trolls - we do NOT engage with trolls.

If you don’t like the magazine or don’t agree with some/all of the features then quite simply don’t read or watch...scroll past. Nobody is making you, only you! So no need to bother writing nasty comments, because our policy is to IGNORE: BLOCK: REPORT:

And if there are reading this, to all you internet trolls and cyberbullies: take your negativity and nastiness, and GET BACK IN YOUR BOX!

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, let’s get on to the photoshoot to represent how I feel about the matter.

My image of an internet bully/troll is that of a sinister looking clown with a big evil grin, designed to scare and frighten. Obviously this was crying out for prosthetics, which would satisfy Beth enormously - we both love to do a transformation to create a completely different character.

Once I had sourced the perfect prosthetic, the mood board was up and running, and my evil clown troll was brought to life. A deathly white pallor was needed, with dark, menacing eyes and a huge sinister grinning mouth. This would be topped off with a wild and curly orange ‘Orphan Annie’ wig.

Beth painted a silver, coiled spring down my throat and decolletage, with the rest of my shoulders, throat and decolletage painted green - the photos would be shot on green screen so that Adrian could work his magic and create our clown-like Jack In A Box. The magazine’s very own troll box, designed and drawn by Jack.
