As we hurtle through the ABC’s of all things peri and menopause-related, it’s time to put U in the spotlight, as no one puts us hotties in the corner. Ooooh, ‘scuse me - just got transported away there for a moment with a vision of Patrick Swayze - who doesn’t love a bit of Dirty Dancing?! Enjoy that one hotties!!
Anyway I digress. So many of us hotties feel as though we are embarking on - or almost at the end of - a life metamorphosis menopausal journey, commonly called the change. It’s earned this title because it really can change us emotionally, physically and psychologically. Ultimately it’s still yoU, but it’s unusually, uniquely yoU.
So what triggers this peri/menopausal change?
The menopause refers to that time when your periods stop and your ovaries lose their reproductive function. Usually occurring between the ages of 45 and 55, but can occur younger or after certain medical treatments.
Peri/menopause is triggered by a change in female hormone levels called oestrogen which are mainly produced by the ovaries with a small amount produced by the adrenal glands, and also the placenta of pregnant women.
As we get older, our oestrogen production decreases, causing upheaval and has an influence on how our bodies behave. This can be an utterly confusing time for most hotties.
The main symptoms of peri/menopause being hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, loss of concentration, weight gain, loss of libido, vaginal dryness, lack of confidence and so the list goes on. And on...
Boy oh boy - it’s no wonder many hotties don’t feel like our usual selves. Uhhh, HELLO! We aren’t our usual selves. We are on the change, developing new super powers that will help us get through this metamorphosis, and shine brighter than ever.
Ok we understand it doesn’t feel like it at the time, but things WILL settle. Good news hotties. You're not alone, these days there is so much more knowledge and support, whether it’s via medical therapies, complementary and/or psychological therapies. With a little trial and error you’ll find the best support - and we’re not talking uplifting underwear for the uniqueness that is yoU!
There are not enough positive examples about life as a menopausal hottie, but trust us - there is a lot to be positive about. Don’t underestimate yourself. Youth and vitality are soooo last year...the menopause - and the maturity it brings - is so underrated!
Menopause is an opportunity to focus on yoU, yoUr health and well being; you are the centre of attention. It forces you to strip back on life’s unnecessary clutter, taking you back to what matters most.
Time becomes more precious, we don’t suffer fools gladly and we can get away with it. You know what and who you want to surround yourself with. You’ve found your voice, learned so much and gained in experience. What’s not to love?
Life as a hottie may be utterly different from your life before as a ‘hotness’ but imagine if we stayed the same, stuck in one place, one era, not relevant and always focused on the past while experiences pass us by?!
YoU wonderful hotties are far from stuck and no one puts hottie in the corner. Brace yourself and be prepared to unleash unlimited super powers as you go onwards and upwards, to live your best life, always moving forward, never looking back.
