**Enigma**

enigma
noun
‘a person or thing that is mysterious or difficult to understand.’

For me ‘death’ is the ultimate enigma…

• Why are we born?
• Why are we here?
• And why the hell do we have to die?
• Where do we go?
• Is there something else, or is death the finale?

The questions keep coming, but unfortunately, nobody has the answers.

As a child, when I thought of death it would terrify me; and if I’m totally honest, it still does.

Death is always surrounded by darkness and mystery.

For this month’s Hallowe’en inspired photo shoot, I wanted to take a character synonymous with Death and give him a little sparkle and glamour...the Heaven way!

Step forward the mythological Grim Reaper...a skeleton shrouded in a dark hooded cloak, carrying a scythe, ready to ‘reap’ human souls. Scary!

Now don’t get me wrong, I wanted my Grim Reaper to be scary, but why does he have to be quite so colourless?!

You probably know by now how I love a bit of colour, and my Grim Reaper would be no exception. He would be all the colours of the rainbow, with the added twist of Ultra Violet (UV).

UV makeup and lights would be used to create an eerily colourful character, fit to grace the cover of this magazine.

Beth painted, powdered and shaded my face with pizzazz, under the glow of the UV lights, to create a colourful and striking skull; completing this cadaverous creation with a black hooded cloak, I was positioned and poised in front of the camera for Adrian to work his magic.
