“Fashion shouldn’t be taken too seriously. You’ve got to have fun with it to make it work!
Think of all the endless possibilities of what you can create. Let your imagination run riot. Have fun, glam up - Love it! Rock it! Own it!"
**Liberty**
The Statue Of Liberty was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States of America; it is recognised as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue is a figure of a robed Roman liberty goddess, 'Libertas'.
With Independence Day fast approaching, I dedicate this issue to our American readers and followers, with our Lady Liberty-inspired shoot.
First - and essential - item, was to source a liberty-style crown. Where else, but my go-to crown maker, Olena Grin? Doesn’t everyone have one of those dahlings?! Olena happily obliged, creating a dazzling, sparkly crystal-covered headpiece.
Beth was again in her element, and left to her own devices, as she set out to create her own unique version of the great Lady. This came with a warning from her to NOT take a sneaky peak until after she had finished.
I’m soooo glad I listened to her. At one point others on the set said I resembled several fictional characters, who shall remain nameless. I’ll leave that up to your imagination! But let’s just say, the one who dared to utter ‘Shrek’ is STILL on the naughty step...
As the colour was painted on, and the crystals and glitter painstakingly applied, I waited patiently for the big reveal.
An industrial-sized can of silver-coloured hairspray almost asphyxiated me and anyone within a five mile radius! If I wasn’t green around the gills before that, then...But I took one for the team and soldiered on!
Once Beth was satisfied with her latest maquillage masterpiece, on went the crystal crown, a silver and white ‘star-spangled’ sequin wrap was ceremoniously draped around me, and I headed to the set, where the most beautiful American flag backdrop awaited me.
“For the land of the free, and the home of the brave”
