Tainted Love, so brilliantly covered and reworked by that sublime 1980s super-duo Soft Cell, is a song about a toxic relationship, with the singer realising he’s got to leave it.

“I love you though you hurt me so,” he sings, as he struggles to move on.

So what do you do if or when this happens to you?

Well the saying goes; “Give a woman the right lipstick and she can conquer the world”...

Listen up ladies, if they are the toxin, here’s the antidote for a triumphant recovery:

Put on a killer outfit: I chose a classic black dress with oversized sleeves, killer heels and a rather fabulous, over-the-top, ostrich feathered hat, which is the masterpiece of Hats2go on etsy.com.
A handbag to die for: The most amazing handbag I own is by the super talented designer Timmy Woods. (timmywoods.com). Tour Eiffel is handmade from intricately carved acacia wood, hand painted and encrusted with Swarovski crystals. It’s a stunning, eye catching and powerful statement piece. Wearable art at its best!
Fabulous lipstick: Weapon of choice - Blood 1 lipstick and clear vinyl gloss from Pat McGrath’s Lust 004 Everything Kit (patmcgrath.com). So bold, so strong and oh-so-sinfully fabulous!
Mascara: Waterproof. For those tears of joy you’ll be crying…Ideally you’ll be with someone who’ll ruin your lipstick, not your mascara. “Take my tears and that’s not nearly all”.
Own who you are!: Send that message to the world that you are a woman in control of her own destiny.
