“Fashion shouldn’t be taken too seriously. You’ve got to have fun with it to make it work!
Think of all the endless possibilities of what you can create. Let your imagination run riot. Have fun, glam up - Love it! Rock it! Own it!"
Imagine you stumbled across a secret garden, an enchanted garden, home to magical fairies, showering everything and everyone with flowers and fairy dust? That was the brief for this month’s shoot.
I wanted flowers. Flowers, flowers EVERYWHERE! In my hair, on my face, all around me on set..A little extravagant maybe...? But I think our readers by now know I don’t do anything by half measures! And this shoot was no exception. I pushed the envelope (or should that be seed packet?!) by commissioning a flower handbag by the talented Inken Gaddass of Felted Art To Wear AND the fabulous Tilly’s Treats made flower cupcakes for us to devour after the shoot - and devour them we did! They tasted even better than they looked - no mean feat, as they looked phenomenal! You can see more delicious Tilly’s Treats in this issue’s Feed Me.
So back to the shoot. I think I might have already mentioned I wanted LOTS of flowers to accessorise… The outfit needed to be plain and simple so it wouldn’t distract from the floral fantasy. I chose the ‘Tania’ dress from Melissa Odabash - a white crochet maxi dress. Very simple, very sweet and very flattering.
My only accessory was the fabulous felted flower bag made by Inken in shades of green and purple. It is an eye catching statement piece and you can read all about Inken in this issue’s ‘In The Spotlight’.
With the outfit sorted it was time to dress the set. I think if you are to venture into a secret garden, then it would be through a flower-filled archway. Cue Rianon Jones #TeamHeaven’s own “props fairy” who would shower the arch with magic, flowers, a little bit of fairy dust and a LOT of sellotape!
Oh Emma Gee! (See what I did there!?) How pretty and magical is this month’s issue!?
This month was a little different to the usual as Emma sourced the props, instead of me. However Emma had an idea in mind and wanted to challenge me.
I covered a metal garden arch with ivy to disguise the frame, creating a foliage base to hold the beautifully vibrant flowers.
The arch was filled with ivy and mixed colours of wisteria, which I think captured the 'Secret Garden' theme and met Emma’s design brief.
This shoot was the fastest one I've ever worked on. However we were amply rewarded with the amazing cakes from Tilly's Treats. WOW! They were outstanding.
No pressure for next month’s photoshoot treats Emma!
Thanks Rianon, this added a spectacular, magical dimension to our enchanting shoot. I wonder what amazing creations await me next month?!

Hair: Created and styled by Hilary from Pimped Up Pins hair salon.
Here is how Hilary became the “hair fairy”, sprinkling flowers, magic and lots of hairspray!
The hair this month, plays host to the flowers from the ‘Secret Garden’, so my job was to create a style which would securely hold all the flowers to be placed in it.
I envisioned a cluster of flowers on the left side of Emma’s head. I placed a large bun ring on the left side and a small bun ring on the right side, covering them with Emma’s hair.
Random plaits were used to give texture, leaving the ends free to soften the look. Then the talented Rianon took over to dress Emma’s hair with an array of beautiful Baby’s Breath (aka Gypsophila) flowers.
Such a pretty look. Very bright and colourful AND with matching cupcakes too!
See you next month...
Thanks Hilary for creating the enchanting ‘Secret Garden’ look. Infinitely prettier than the ‘dragged through a hedge backwards’ look!

Makeup: Created and applied by Jenna Kelly.
Here’s how Jenna became the “make-up fairy” to create this month’s magical and enchanting look.
Let's start this column off by saying that emmaheaven.com certainly knows how to take me out of my makeup-loving comfort zone!
When I heard this month’s brief I was super scared...I've never used face paint before and didn't quite know where to start.
Practise was in order!!
Once I'd gotten to grips with the texture and consistency of the face paint (that paint to water ratio has to be taken waaaaay more seriously than I thought!) we could get to work finding a pattern that we liked.
Emma and I had a practise session ( I’d also bombarded her with pictures of my arm while she was on holiday with my homegrown artwork!) to figure out the type of pattern we would go with.
With a brief of 'fairy-inspired flower garden', and my love for wearable glam, my aim was as always to make sure this wasn't too fancy dress!
I blended a pink base colour into Emma's hairline, focused more on one side of her face and let that dry before moving onto the next stage.
I applied the petal and leaf design. again letting that dry.
Finally the dusting of glitter added a little sparkle to a pretty floral look.
An uber-pretty 'lost in a flower garden' inspired glam...divine!
Until next time!
Thank you Jenna for creating this mesmerizingly, beautiful look.
