**Metamorphosis**

Metamorphosis (noun): a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one; change; transformation

Metamorphosis 1I love having a new year ahead of me - like a blank canvas - I can do whatever I want with it! It is exciting to start a new year, you can change things, reinvent yourself, give yourself a shake up, a kind of ‘out with the old and in with the new’. Say hello to ‘metamorphosis’. If you’re anything like me, you will have over indulged at Christmas! And be feeling bloated and sluggish! The easiest thing in the world is to feel sorry for yourself and wallow - but hey - no-one forced the food and drink down you - so (wo)man up - and get back on the wagon that you so spectacularly fell off!

The easiest and quickest way to get your glam back on is to play around with hair, makeup and accessories. Dig out your fur hats and scarves - have a rummage through your jewellery box and dust off the handbags languishing in the back of the wardrobe. It’s time to rediscover your inner fashionista.

This is the perfect opportunity to try out different hairstyles, maybe a new colour or a totally different style from normal? It’s also a great time to experiment with your makeup - maybe try out different colours - step away from your signature look and be bold and daring - grow some (fur!) balls and have fun.

You can be anything you want to be. It’s time for your ‘metamorphosis’.

Metamorphosis 2My metamorphosis begun with a voyage of discovery in my wardrobe - exploring the shelves and opening drawers - and actually getting to the bottom of them! What lurks beneath...?!

I pulled out a selection of hats, scarves, bracelets, handbags and bag charms and let the fun begin...

NailsNails: I wanted something quirky, eye-catching, extravagant and completely different! Poor Jess had her work cut out - but boy did she pull it out of the bag!

To start, she painted my nails with Shellac ‘Butterfly Queen’ a gorgeous glittery pink varnish.

Leaving out the ring fingers, she dusted the bottom half of my nails in ‘Lou Lou’ glitter and the top half with ‘Amira’ glitter, blending them together so my nails looked as though they had been dip-dyed.

To complete the quest for something different, Jess covered my ring fingers with iridescent crystals - creating a fabulous and decadent sparkle.

Thank you Jess, my nails exceeded expectations and it was exciting to mix it up a bit as I usually like to have every nail the same colour - tho’ like I said - the new year is a great time to take some style ‘risks’ by trying something different and new.

The accessories dominated this month’s shoot with the hair being adapted and used as a backdrop to support the individual looks.

Emma prepped her hair and pinned it in a bun several hours before the shoot started.

For the first look, starring the multi-coloured fur hat, I took the bun out and brushed the hair to one side using a Tangle Teaser brush.

The second look, which starred the black fur, hat had no hair on view but I softened the look with a sweeping side fringe.

For the third look, starring the white and black fur hat, I wanted to have a smoother, softer wave. Using an airbrush and heat defence spray, I gently pulled the hair into soft waves bringing all the hair forward onto the shoulders.

For the fourth look we wanted that ‘just got out of bed’ look which was achieved by shaking the hair out whilst upside down, spraying it with hair gel and scrunching into place.

These looks were so much fun to do and very quick and easy to achieve.

JennaIt’s January! I hope you all had a wonderful and super glam Christmas!

This month when I was shown the incredible furry hats that Emma would be wearing at the shoot I immediately thought...Ice Queen!

I hit the magazines and internet looking for inspiration; a huge trend going into the new year is mixing metallics and I really wanted to incorporate this in some way. Mixing metallics allows for a little more warmth to be added to an otherwise quite cold and frosty ‘silver/grey’ look.

I wanted to create a glowing winter glam with an intense highlight...and by intense in this case the highlight was silver!

I created a warm copper eye, with top lashes only, leaving the bottom a little frosty looking. I took an amazing silver eyeshadow from Pat McGrath and dusted it over the very high points of Emma’s cheek bones and the top of her brow bones.

Dipping into Emma’s personal makeup collection, I used the Pat McGrath highlighter sticks, iridescent glow. This gave an amazing illusion of a ‘frosted’ look.

I placed a little sparkle in the form of gems on her cheekbones just for that little extra something.

A nude lip to finish the look and there you have it...

It was a rather simple but effective glam!

Moral of the story...Mix your metallics...Go on, don’t be afraid!

JK’s Product of the month:

Water! Don’t hate me just yet. It’s not as boring as it sounds! It’s January, and our skin has been battered over Christmas - junk food, alcohol, going from the freezing cold outside to the indoor heating... So now it’s time to revive, recharge and recuperate! Drink lots of water, but mainly get yourself a good hydrating face mask (anyone who follows my SnapChat will know I am obsessed with the ‘Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Masks’)...and drumroll...they’re about 99p! They really are amazing! A little drink for your skin!

Thank you to everyone involved in the making of this Issue’s video. It was fast and furious fun - especially when the alcohol and chocolates made an appearance! Which disappeared fast and furiously too! And was the reason why I pronounced metamorphosis wrong in the introduction! The fizz got me! (Well that’s my excuse anyway!)
