**What’s in my Wardrobe**
This month has seen it rain down on us quite a bit - so this brought to mind - “How to look chic in the rain - and still keep dry!” The weather forecast might be bleak, but there’s no need not to be chic!
My outfit consisted of black bootcut trousers, worn with a fitted satin, scuba black tank.
On my feet I wore black patent pumps.
My coat of choice was a classic, sateen trench coat which I accessorised with a beautiful printed, cashmere scarf, oversized sunglasses, and a rather flamboyant crystal-covered, black umbrella. Blinging AND singing in the rain - beat that Fred and Ginger...
Nails: Lucy from Irresistible Beauty applied a black base coat and a layer of magic ‘Magpie Dust’ which changes colour when it reacts with the black base. The result is a kaleidoscope of iridescent purples, blues and greens, which just look incredible.

This month’s look was a dream... A Charlotte Tilbury dream!
Emma has long been obsessed with this amazing woman’s collection. So when she asked me to create a warm, glowing, bronzed autumnal look, to perfectly compliment the ‘Classic Trench’, there was nowhere else for me to go! If you’re unfamiliar with this range...get familiar!
Charlotte Tilbury is a favourite amongst makeup artists simply because she really does know what she’s doing. She’s created a range perfectly suited to women of all ages and skin tones, but particularly suited for those worried about fine lines. Her products are soft, hydrating and simple.
I started Emma’s look (after moisturising) with Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow; a perfect primer for highlighting the skin and creating that glowing ‘fresh from the spa’ look.
After this I went onto the eyes. I primed the eye area with the Mini Miracle Eye Wand. This product is one of Emma’s favourite. It is a dual-ended pen, one side with an eye cream designed to fake eight hours sleep (it really does) and the other end, a light reflector which is light in texture and doesn’t crease.
I gently filled in her brows with some Anastasia Beverly Hills - you really cannot beat this ‘Brow Queen’s’ products. We then used one of my favourite Charlotte Tilbury products - the Dolce Vita Eyeshadow Palette - to create a warm, blended, mahogany, bronze and chocolate dream. Dolce Vita is inspired by the likes of Sophia Loren and Penelope Cruz - exotic, strong beauties with such natural flare.
To give Emma’s eyes extra depth, I used a soft brown eyeliner pencil in the waterline of the eyes. Most women only use a black pencil in the waterline - but never underestimate the power of a brown liner! A favourite of Jennifer Lopez and glamour queens alike. A bronze, brown eyeliner in the waterline can create the dusky, smoky eye look without shrinking the eye or being too intense.
Lots of black mascara, and some wispy lashes for effect and those ‘come to bed’ (Charlotte Tilbury’s words - not mine) eyes are done.
For this look especially - but in my opinion, every look - the skin’s base is just as important as the eyes; even when the eye look is the main focus of your makeup. Without the correct base be it matt or glowing, natural or full coverage - with every change in the ‘eyeshadow look’ should come a tailored skin finish.
I love to work on a whole ‘look’ basis, ensuring that the entire style of the makeup fits together from lashes to lips.
As this month’s glam was a glowing, warm, shimmering delight, we made sure the skin complimented that look.
Using Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation I evened out Emma’s skin. This product has a medium to full coverage, meaning you don’t really need too much; but as we were creating this look for a photo shoot, a little more coverage is needed under the lights. A little setting powder on the T-zone to control too much shine, gives a smoother look and allows you to add in the shimmer and highlight where you want it.
I added warmth to the skin through bronzing and contouring with a bronzer that’s by no means shimmery, but not quite matt. Adding your contour here rather than with cream products, gives a softer finish that isn’t quite so intense and sharp. It’s great for the autumn/winter look - and even better if you’re concerned with any signs of aging, as we want to avoid anything too OTT. We finished the look with a beige tone lipstick to echo the classic beige satin trench we all love so dearly!
The main ‘takeaway’ from this look is the power of blending! We’ve seen such a rise in the popularity of social media makeup over the last few years by some very talented people. However, I always explain to my clients that these people -most of the time- are 20-something beauties, who openly and admittedly take hundreds of pictures and use lots of photoshopping to make sure that the picture they post, creates that perfect ‘winged eyeliner’ look. We don’t all have the time, power or photoshop skills to help us with this, so sometimes that ‘cat eye’ look is best left to the professionals.
One thing Emma has taught me so well over the past few years, and the very basis of her website and all of its success is, know your skin and know yourself! Emma totally understands that blending, and blended makeup looks in general, work best for her. And this is not age-specific either - as aged 25, a blended eye works much better for my eye shape too.
Emma is not afraid for me to pull her eyeshadow slightly underneath her eyes for added effect - or to bring her eyeshadow slightly above the crease to make her eyes look wider and softer, and to really open up the area. But most of all, she loves to have warm, soft and natural skin.
So ladies, get out that fluffy brush that’s been hiding in your makeup drawer - put down that black liquid eyeliner, be gentle and, no matter the trend, just BLEND!

**A Heavenly Hint**
Bio Oil is a specialist skincare oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. It is also effective for aging and dehydrated skin.
I have been applying Bio Oil to the fine lines around my eyes before I go to bed every night.
Just dab some oil on your laughter lines using your ring finger and gently massage in a circular motion around the eye - but be gentle - as the skin around the eye is very delicate.
It certainly seems to help soften the lines around my eyes and I will keep you posted on my progress.
**A Heavenly Treat**
Inspiration for my ‘Heavenly Treat’ this month struck as I was watching the TV. A family were sitting down, ready to tuck into a roast dinner. My taste buds went into overdrive and the only way to stop myself fantasising about this, was to book into my local carvery.
I headed straight for the roast beef and turkey, with stuffing; say nothing.... And I had *the* biggest Yorkshire pudding known to man! Loaded next to this was a roast potato mountain. And to be good I did put some vegetables on the plate, which was swiftly smothered in gravy.
It was absolutely delicious! Whilst I am careful about what I eat, I’m a great believer in indulging in a little of what you fancy, and make sure I have a ‘cheat/treat meal’ at least once a week.
It would be rude not to have dessert. So being the well mannered soul that I am, I finished the meal off with a good ol’ fashioned sticky, treacle pudding with custard.
I was literally in ‘Heaven’ - this is one ‘cheat treat’ I will most definitely repeat!
