Menopausal Hotties – January/February

The hottest topic in town

Just how perfectly does the Phoenix represent us hotties on our menopause journey?

This magnificent, legendary mythical bird of renewal rises from the ashes, symbolising rebirth, regeneration, renewal and hope!

The menopause is a long, hard slog – it’s not called ‘the change’ for nothing! Even tho we know its official meaning refers to the transition between a woman’s childbearing and non-childbearing years blah, blah blah…Let’s get real here fellow hotties – that is the least our worries!

What happens to us and our bodies during this challenging time of ‘change’?

Well there’s quite a smorgasbord of symptoms just waiting and lurking to unleash themselves; and it’s pure pot luck which one(s) good ol’ Mother Nature is going to visit upon you!

You’ll just have to wait and see…

Oh we do hope you like surprises!!

For starters, here’s a cheeky taster of what may be lurking around the corner, waiting to unleash itself when you least expect it!

  • Hot flushes
  • Sleep issues
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Brain fog
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Reduced libido
  • Weight changes
  • Joint pain
  • Dry skin
  • Ever-changing, irregular periods – lighter/heavier/stopping or restarting

They’re just the tip of the iceberg, so is it any wonder that we ‘change’ after navigating such a smorgasbord of symptoms?

It may very well feel as if your life has shot up in flames and burned down to the ground – but this is when we get to rise from the ashes just like our beautiful, majestic Phoenix.

We will:

  • Start anew, embracing a fresh beginning after moving on from who we used to be.
  • Be resilient, bouncing back from the setbacks and emotional exhaustion of the past.
  • Emerge transformed, growing and improving as a result of these challenging experiences.
  • Begin a new chapter of our lives fuelled with hope and determination to make our lives as fulfilling as possible!

WARNING – PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!

We are likely to be inundated with Z-list ‘celebrities’ – you know the ones! The usual suspects that jump on any old bandwagon as long as it gets their vacuous over-inflated faces plastered across the media in an attempt to stay relevant in the public eye!

They then try lecturing us on the importance of how performing the perfect downward dog whilst burning their latest candle which smells like a burnt out vajayjay will help us discover our inner goddess. What utter bullocks!

Their ONLY goal is to sell as many copies of their latest book, and candles, to their gullible fan base, raking in yet more cash to keep them in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to!

How many more ‘My Menopause & Me’ accounts do we need exactly from these privileged peeps? And more to the point – who actually gives a flying f*ck? These people don’t live in the real world. They have access to expensive healthcare, designer products and a crack squad of stylists at their beck and call! So forgive us for not giving a flying f*ck about anything they have to say on the matter. We should take it all with a large pinch of pink Himalayan salt hotties!

Where these Z-listers are blighted by fillers, Botox, Turkey/chiclet teeth, and vajayjay-scented candles bull$hit, the Phoenix is blessed with the promise of hope and new beginnings.

So the moral to this tale is: f*ck celebrities and embrace the Phoenix analogy. This mythical creature is far more real than any Z-lister.

And if you want to look for some real-life, Earth-bound inspiration, you  can always direct your attention  eastwards, to our hottie sisters in Japan.

The Japanese call menopause ‘kōnenki’, which translates to ‘renewal years’, which embraces a mindset of new beginnings, and not one of decline or retreat; it’s an opportunity not a threat; it’s a period (pun intended!) to reflect and reframe. All of these qualities seem to be perfectly embodied and symbolised by the Phoenix rising from the ashes.

In the meantime, Austrian 2014 Eurovision winner, Conchita Wurst’s ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’, is playing in the background – its beautiful soaring notes perfectly capture the warmth and rise of the Phoenix as it emerges from the ashes. Now that’s one fine tune to be added to any hotties’ playlist!

Onwards and upwards hotties, xx
