It's All About Me
Some people wear clothes because they have to. They get up, put something on and off they go.
I love the way clothes make me feel - the confidence they give me - the way they can reflect or transform my mood.
I think with age comes confidence - when you start to feel comfortable in your own skin - when you don’t really care what other people think - when you start to dress for you.
I want to live longer by being fit and healthy and looking after myself.
I care about my appearance and want to make the most of what Mother Nature gave me.
I have a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty and I surround myself with fabulous friends who have come with me on this incredible journey.
Life’s too short to not glam up and party and I want to share my passion for fashion with you... so welcome to my world.
It’s been a crazy busy month! So let me take a deep breath and tell you all about it.
I haven’t had a fake tan in years, as I’m always worried that I’ll end up looking like an Oompa Loompa from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! However Lucy from Irresistible Beauty told me about Fake Bake’s 60 minute tan, where they spray you, leave it on for 60 minutes and then shower it off. I was intrigued and reassured, and decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did - it looked natural and I was thrilled with the sunkissed result.
So with a glowing tan, next up was a visit to Hilary at Pimped Up Pins hair salon for a big night out with friends. (More about that later).
Hilary curled my hair with heated rollers and artfully pinned the curls up. The back of the hair was a maze of intricate Rapunzel-esque plaits which looked so beautiful. Once again, an amazing “up do” by Hilary. She never disappoints.
Later that day, I was crimped, dressed and raring to party for Tara Hammett’s birthday at No 6 Bar, Swansea.
It was a great evening and I met some incredible people, including Paul Jackson of The Hair Business, Swansea - what a lovely man. Good luck Paul with the opening of your new salon. I hope it is a huge success. Also there were fellow party enthusiasts, Maxine Bromfield and Jan Johnson - they really know how to enjoy themselves! And the party girl? She looked amazing and enjoyed a truly fabulous night.
But we were back in the gym 48 hours later, hard at work, in preparation for my holiday. Tara had me trialing her new exercise DVD, which is now available to buy at taransformation.com.
A few days later, and it was time for my video shoot at Irresistible Beauty. Lucy and I had collaborated on some special nail designs, which would feature as this month’s exclusive readers’ offer. Head on over to Destination #FH Avenue to nail down the details on this incredible offer!
It was a relaxing afternoon of pampering and some indulgent fizz. All this was captured on film by the super talented Rhys Warlow, and is waiting for you to watch in “Lights...Camera...Action...”
The following week was time to de-stress my tresses, which have been put through their paces these last few months, and give them a boost with some hair extensions.
The lovely Sophie Watkins came to my home and spent three hours putting in Easilocks. I’d had a consultation the week before with Sophie for her to assess my hair, do a colour match and decide on how many pieces would be needed. The result was 140 pieces using 100 warm brown and 40 cherry blossom.
I was absolutely thrilled with my hair. Thank you Sophie - you did an exceptional job.
The day after I had a photo shoot at Chic Studio with Rags & Riches Clothing, for this month’s wardrobe feature. As usual, an afternoon at the studio with Richie Crossley is guaranteed to have me in fits of laughter. And working with the talented designers Josh Thompson and Glen Fiteni of R&R is always a pleasure.
With just a few days to go before my holiday I headed back to Irresistible Beauty. A brow tint, lash lift and a sparkly mani/pedi, followed by a flying visit to Hilary for one of her famous ‘curly blow dry’ sessions, and my pre-holiday preparations were complete.
I was in need of some sun and relaxation by the time I boarded the plane. Hair, nails, passport, tickets, money? Check! We have lift off...
Champagne, chocolates and lots of fashion magazines meant the flight to Cyprus quite literally flew by. It was glorious to step off the plane into a beautiful hot night. I’d forgotten what summer was meant to feel like!
For a week I delighted in the food and drink - especially the cocktails! I read lots of trashy novels whilst relaxing by the pool. It was absolute paradise to have time out with my loved ones, and enjoy ‘being busy doing nothing’ in such beautiful surroundings.
And then all too soon - back to reality, a British summer, and work...
Until next time...
Don’t be a stranger...
