Let's do it Doggy Style!

Baileys Coffee Bar is Wales’ first Coffee Bar, dedicated to our four-legged friends and has been created by mother and daughter duo, Sarah and Megan (Meg). This unique idea was born from the combination of their love for dogs, good coffee, ambition and drive.

Meg has been in the hospitality sector since she was 15 years old, and left school after her GCSEs as she felt that College or Uni weren’t for her, wanting to get out into the world of work and gain experience.

She’s worked in many hospitality establishments, gained several qualifications along the way - she is a proficient barista with a great flair for baking amazing cakes. However, her Mum (Sarah) is more likely to be found on the other side of the coffee bar, eating those delicious cakes and drinking her coffee!

Highly-supportive of her daughter, Sarah has always encouraged Meg to have a good work ethic, believing that if you work hard enough and smart enough then anything is possible.

Some of you might already know Sarah as the owner of Waterside Laundry in Swansea; Sarah is more likely to be found washing, ironing and folding than designing latte art or folding in flour! However, what Sarah might lack in barista skills, this is more than offset by her business prowess, drive and determination.

In the last five years Sarah has experienced a devastating fire which burnt her premises to the ground, followed by a freak flood 12 months later. Throughout the pandemic lockdown Sarah supported the NHS staff and the local community with her charity and generosity.

Continuing in that charitable ‘vein’ Sarah and Meg have volunteered in a dog sanctuary on a small island off the coast of Thailand, where Sarah has returned several times in recent years to help at Lanta Animal Welfare centre.

Being such passionate dog owners themselves and after helping out at the charity, whatever the future was going to hold, both mother and daughter knew it needed to involve their canine friends in some shape or form.

With Meg’s barista and baking skills, their passion for ‘all things dog’, combined with Sarah’s business wisdom and acumen, Baileys Coffee Bar was born!

The name Baileys comes from Meg’s cheeky sausage dog (Dachshund) who is just 12 weeks old and who will be the resident cafe dog - top dog?! When he’s not having a nap from his cuteness overload in his own little dedicated kennel area in the window, he can be petted by the cafe’s visitors.

So what makes Baileys different?

Our four-legged friends are welcome in all shapes and sizes. We have paid homage to them in the cafe’s decor, where they are allowed on the sofas for cwtches and have some dedicated seats also. There’s a special menu with a variety of treats such as ice cream, donuts, afternoon tea and brownies - and that’s just for the dogs!

We also have a small retail area with doggy paraphernalia, supplied from local crafts people. And for the hoomans we have great, locally-roasted coffee, with amazing homemade cakes and snacks.

So why not visit us in the beautiful town of Carmarthen 9 Hall Street, SA31 1UH and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
