Learning to love yourself is a process of healing your thoughts and emotions. The only thoughts and emotions you can heal are the ones you let yourself feel and express.

Whenever problems or conflicts arise in your life, especially in your relationships, there is more to the story…we can only get to the root cause of the problem or conflict if we discover and admit the complete truth to ourselves.

Words, when spoken, carry power. Watch the energy behind them; speak with great care and honour the energy of the words.

How many times have you been frustrated or discouraged because you felt that no one was listening to you?

Linked to the throat is the Throat Chakra. This is the fifth chakra and it is the first of the higher or spiritual chakras on the "chakra ladder".

This chakra is in the region of the neck and shoulders and its colour is blue.

The fifth chakra is linked directly to your personal integrity and a sense of honour. As a communication centre, it not only allows you to express who you are and what you stand for, but also allows you to listen deeply to another.

Its purpose is about Communication and Creativity; Listening and Finding one’s own voice.

The Throat Chakra not only affects the throat, it is also associated with your mouth, teeth, gums, trachea, larynx, cervical vertebrae, thyroid and parathyroid.

If it’s not in a healthy state, you may experience the following:

  • Fear of speaking
  • Difficulty putting feelings into words
  • Shyness
  • Introversion
  • Poor rhythm
  • Inability to listen
  • Gossiping
  • Dominating voice
  • Interruptions
  • Disorders of the throat and neck
  • Tightness of the jaw

The "way of the Throat Chakra" is the way of inspired creativity, seeking and sharing of the truth. It is the way of standing up for what you believe, saying no when you need to, and being open and honest in what you say.

Try the following exercise:

  • Close your eyes and picture your throat.
  • Imagine what your Throat Chakra looks like (you can use the above image).
  • What image comes to mind? what does it look like?colour? texture? ask the following questions.
  • Write down your findings and anything that comes to you that is negative, causes fear, anger.

Make note as these are parts of you that have been suppressed, denied and pushed away.

  1. Why can’t I speak?
  2. Who is not hearing me?
  3. What am I not hearing?
  4. What would be so scary about knowing or hearing or admitting to the truth?
  5. What is preventing me from communicating?
  6. How am I not speaking and acting in accordance with my personal integrity and conscience?
  7. Why am I not inspired to create?

When you practice expressing your authentic feelings to yourself, it will become easier to express them to other people.

Your relationships will become more harmonious and you will have learned to honour how you feel and honour yourself exactly as you are, instead of keeping yourself in the prison of how you should feel and how you should be.

We are not defined by what happens to us. We are defined by how we react, how we speak. Our thoughts create our reality.

By speaking our truth from a place of love allows us freedom from attachment; it brings true alignment with ourselves and our relationships, just as two perfectly attuned instruments.

It brings with it the peaceful harmony of stepping into your authentic true self; your true power.

When we speak the truth, our inner compass will always guide us to our true North..

Love Debbie
