Here at emmaheaven.com we love a little bit of naughtiness - ‘naughty but nice’ could be our team motto - and erotic fiction is no exception.

With women and men unable to put those risqué novels down, it is certainly a genre which appeals to people from all walks of life and who are we to argue?

So imagine how thrilled we were to find out we have our very own erotica writer here in South Wales, and she owns a publishing company too! We could barely contain our excitement...

Step forward the talented and fabulous, Lisa Jenkins:

“Thank you Emma for having me here, and hi to everyone reading this (waves emphatically).

My name is Lisa Jenkins. I am a published short story writer and the proud owner of Sinful Press, an erotica publishing company based in Swansea, South Wales.

I guess my story really started back in 2005. I was volunteering at my daughter’s school, helping the children with their reading, when a teacher suggested that I should look into becoming qualified.

I was at the point where I could barely string a sentence together unless it was in child-speak, but I figured I had nothing to lose and signed up to do an Open University degree in Literature. Not long after embarking upon my studies, I found myself in the position of being a single parent. Undeterred, I soldiered on.

photo 2Fast forward a decade: I was the proud owner of a first-class honours degree, with more than a dozen published short stories, and, instead of becoming a teacher, I was running my own erotica publishing company!

The reaction I get from people when I tell them what I do is pretty varied. Some laugh and get embarrassed, or want to know about my own sex life as if somehow I am what I publish! Whereas others see me as someone they can open up to about their own sexual experiences.

I have had the pleasure of meeting people with all sorts of fetishes and relationships, and I have grown as a person from knowing them.

To date, I have worked with some wonderful authors who break all the rules and cross genres to produce exciting and original work, and that is what I am most proud of.

From S. J. Smith, who is a Welsh author bringing life to Welsh characters in a funny and dirty way, to Kay Jaybee and Janine Ashbless, renowned British authors who are talented beyond belief; and most recently, Eli Gilić, a Serbian author who has dared reimagine the sex lives of real and fictional historical figures.

This is why I do what I do. I get to be a part of the creation of this literature; a part of the enjoyment of readers all over the world.

Right now, Sinful Press has an excellent reputation for our standard of books and our author-friendly contracts; and while a small part of me would like to take on the world going forward, I don’t want to end up turning Sinful Press into just another generic publishing company.

I am proud to represent those books which don’t fit into a specific genre, and of the attention we are able to give to each and every title we publish.

And for me personally, I get to regularly meet wonderful people from all walks of life, to listen to their experiences and learn more each day about the colourful mosaic that is sexuality, and to take that knowledge and use it to produce more realistic, sex-positive literature.”
