I'm going to be on BBC Radio soon, talking about the crazy regime which Mark Wahlberg's following at the moment, and involves getting up at 2.30 in the morning!

Could you get up at that time to do your workout?

Setting an alarm *that* early to be part of the 4am club is absolutely berserk. I'm going to be talking on the radio about how people can get in shape *without* resorting to crazy things like that.

However, what I want to share with you is the stuff you definitely do NOT need to do, PLUS the stuff that you do need to be doing to make sure that you not only lose weight, but keep it off too.

We don’t all have a multimillion pound incentive to get in shape and make us want to get up at that time; although maybe I might reconsider getting up *that* early if the money were on its way!

Here are my three top tips:

#1 Do something which is going to be sustainable for you that you can comfortably fit into your already busy day. Could you ever get up at 2:30am and then stress out more, have a busy day, then go to bed at 7pm, and probably before your kids?!

#2 You only need to exercise about three times a week. You do not need to exercise twice a day, otherwise you're gonna burn yourself out. In addition to regular exercising, make sure you eat lots of healthy food that you enjoy (even including the odd glass of wine or chocolate that you fancy).

#3 Make sure you get plenty of sleep. Anybody who carries on with a hard-core plan like that is gonna fall ill and injure themself if they’re not careful - it's not going to work. Scrap the 2:30am alarm and stay sleeping!

Short-term quick fixes do not work.

Here is a motivational video to help you navigate the tempting world of coffee!
