Despite going to school with Sharon Lewis, the owner of Bella Beauty salon, it wasn’t until many years later, that she would reappear in my life when she came along to The Hyst in Swansea to watch her Aunt, Wendy, and one of our Ladies With Attitude panellists.

After bringing each other up to date on what we had been up to since leaving school - my lips are sealed!!! - I decided to pay Sharon’s salon a visit and not just in the interests of my research for this month’s Beauty Warrior!

Hi,
I’m Sharon Lewis, owner of Bella Beauty salon in Swansea. I started the business five years ago. Originally I was a branch manager of a finance company which, after 16 years in the business, had started to lose its appeal. So I quit, going back to college to retrain as a beauty therapist, and to open my own salon.

I’ve always wanted to make my salon different from everyone else’s. From personal experience whenever I walked into beauty salons, I’d feel intimidated, as if people were looking at and judging me. I’m not saying they were, but that was just how I felt. So I’ve made my salon as comfortable as my living room at home, where everyone feels at ease, comfortable and cosy. If we’re busy, clients feel comfortable enough to go and make themselves - and me - a cup of tea!

story photo 1We have a booking system for people to make their own appointments; we also welcome walk in customers if we are free.

My passion and vision is very similar to Emma’s, and that is to make people look younger without resorting to the syringe or going under the knife. On the salon menu at the moment we have treatments such as derma rollers, chemical peels, collagen masks, Myso Vital Rejuvenation therapy, various facials and non surgical facelifts (blepharoplasty). The latter treatment Emma had last month - which is one of four - and was filmed for this month’s Beauty Warrior feature.

Other treatments on offer at the salon include Russian semi-permanent lashes, HD brows, waxing, threading, spray tans, manicures/pedicures, semi-permanent makeup tattoo, and microblading.

No two days are ever the same. I love all my clients who are from every walk of life, vary in age and very loyal. I have found that once someone comes to Bella Beauty for a treatment, that they keep coming back for more. There’s a lovely fun, family atmosphere at the salon where everyone is made to feel welcome.

I have always been into beauty, even growing up. I was the one my friends would come to to help them with their brows, nails, hair and makeup.

My dream is to expand my business to other areas, so that there are Bella Beautys all over Swansea and South Wales, where everyone can feel at home and indulge in fabulous treatments. I’ll always keep my Penlan salon at the heart of my business as it’s unique and it will always be the start of something very special.

story photo 2story photo 3As someone who has had her fair (and unfair) share of beauty treatments and therapists, I can confidently say Sharon has a great bedside manner.

I’ve had many treatments with Sharon, including the non-surgical facelift, which if I’m being completely honest, was a daunting treatment for me to undertake.

However Sharon was confident and calm,. She put me at ease, talking me through the procedure, telling me what she was doing and what to except so there were no hidden surprises; I felt like she was in control and that I was in safe hands.

That is so important when you have a procedure such as the non-surgical facelift, because it is uncomfortable with a week’s downtime to recover. So it was all the more reassuring to have it explained and carried out by someone so confident, knowledgeable and compassionate.

But the gains definitely outweigh those ‘pains’. Sharon is a genius. Not only has she managed to make me look 10 years younger, but my wrinkles have already reduced by 50%. With one treatment down, and three to go, she’s already made my wish to have fewer wrinkles come true. As I said - she’s a genius! Or should that be a genie!?

So people of Swansea and South Wales, and even those further afield (she’s worth the trip!), I strongly recommend you pay Bella Beauty a visit for an amazing friendly atmosphere, where you get the warmest of welcomes, undeniably fabulous service, a damn good cup of tea and Sharon Lewis - skin genius/genie!!
