‘You are what you eat’

Everyone knows I lurve chocolate. WELL I did before baby DEAKS was all cwtched up in my belly! But here is a little treat for you. These are AMAZING, really rich and decadent. Easy for you to make and store if you can resist them!

Choc Almond Truffles

1 Tbsp Chopped almonds
1 Scoop Vanilla whey
½ Large bar of dark chocolate (70% or above)
1 Tsp Cocoa powder

Melt the chocolate, then stir in the almonds and whey. Prepare to get messy. Split into four and roll into balls. Allow to cool in the fridge for 15-20 minutes. When cool, roll the balls in the cocoa powder to finish and enjoy. Have two as a serving.

Who said eating healthy had to be boring?
Eat amazing .... because you ARE!

‘Feel the fear - but do it anyway’

YOU deserve to feel amazing.
YOU can do whatever you want.
YOU have the willpower to be the best version of you.

We all get self doubt sometimes.
Me too.
I've worried about doing things.
I've failed at stuff.
Things haven't gone my way all the time.

Right now... I worry more than ever about what I'm doing and how it may be perceived by others. And then I remind myself... I'm doing the BEST for me.

I'm doing what I feel is the best for me and my pregnancy whilst I try to do the best I can in my relationships, my business, my exercise, my food choices.

I can be on my own and think I can't do this.
What am I doing?
What if I fail?
What if I let someone down?
But the truth is.
I am enough.
We are all imperfect.

Let go of the ‘you’ you think you're supposed to be and embrace who you are.
Within the TARAnsformer groups, I'm proud of every single VULNERABLE, SCARED, EMBARRASSED woman in there who has decided to do something for themselves, share their feelings and show how BRAVE & COURAGEOUS they really are by being themselves and showing it.
I also love how they all support, praise and lift each other.

So today, believe in yourself.
Don’t stop yourself from achieving what you want because you feel ashamed.

Wake up each day and think,
“No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough."

And to go to bed at night thinking,
“Yes. I am sometimes afraid, but I am also brave”.

We all feel it.
You are worthy of love and belonging...
Start with loving yourself.

‘Knowledge is power’

So many are. No matter what other results you may achieve that indicate success, the scales TRUMPS THEM ALL.

One week you do great, the next... when you work REALLY HARD, nothing. Maybe even put on.
Great, what's the point... ? Where's the pic 'n' mix!?

Thought or done that?
Stay STUCK in the viscous dieting circle.
I know so many have done this, are doing this and will continue to do this.

During a Coaching Call this week with the *FIRST* girly to join the Life TARAnsformer 9 programme, we chatted about where she is right now and how she feels.

Because of this she puts off things she wants to do. Hates her body. Only feels confident when she's had plenty to drink with the girls on the weekend. Then back into the valley of despair on a Sunday.

She's not the only one. I've spoken to women who:

- Get up in the middle of the night, go to the loo then weigh to see any difference.
- Get upset with ONLY 1lbs loss, even though she lost 4 inches around her waist.
- Ended up in tears and smashed the scales on the floor because the number didn't say what she wanted.

... .it's a very useful tool in measuring your success.
But, this is just one factor.

More importantly you need to consider your inches, your dress size, your confidence, the regular compliments, your increased energy, being fitter & stronger, feeling healthier, before & after photos.

ALL of these should be considered before you decide you're a failure because of *that number*.
A number nobody knows but you.

Nobody picks you up, but they see your inches, they see you glowing with health and confidence.

Here's some tips for you to break away from the scales obsession:

* Do NOT own one. Go to somewhere like Boots the chemist or your local gym so you can't sneak a little look which could upset you.
* Do NOT compare. Other people may lose more than you, but may have a lot more to lose than you too. Focus on your mission.
* Take your measurements and set realistic targets for inch loss.
* Compare how your clothes feel and what your before & after pics look like.
* Get accountable with a coach who can support you and be there with you for advice and pick you up during the hard task of lifestyle change.

All of these will encourage you to stay on track and FINALLY escape the dieting & weight mindset of so many FAILED DIETS - 97% of them do not work remember.

The Skin You’re In

Jodie column confidence to go nakedDo you have the confidence to go naked?

I’m back to share with you some more skincare do’s and don'ts, and how to get our skin in tip top condition so we can bare all and have the confidence to go totally naked.

Wouldn't it be great if we could jump out of bed in the morning and head out to the gym without so much as a tinted moisturiser on?! Well if we can ditch the latest, gimmicky skincare products out there and start using some good, basic and decent skin care then maybe, just maybe, we can.

I advise on skin care every day, so you can trust me to know what I'm talking about.

The reality as we get older, is that our skin’s elasticity decreases and unfortunately, wrinkles and fine lines are on the up! I’ve brought together some tips for you to keep your skin looking healthy and where possible minimise wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. Prevention is always better than cure.

Skin Care Do’s & Don’ts

Skin Care Do’s:

Keep hydrated

We all know we should be drinking more water; around 8 glasses per day and there are lots of health benefits to keeping yourself hydrated. As we get older our body loses the ability to retain moisture, so it’s important to keep your skin hydrated both from the inside and out. Dry skin can look unhealthy and saps your cells of moisture, making your wrinkles more prominent.

Water can help maintain the health and function of your body and skin. An adequate daily intake will keep your cells working properly, as well as help to keep your skin looking smoother and supple, including your eyes. And don’t forget a good quality eye cream which will provide hydration around the delicate eye area from the outside too.

Change your pillowcases

The way you sleep can have an impact on the fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes due to the pressure when sleeping on one side. Try sleeping on your back, although many of us will not be able to control how we sleep at night, so having satin or silk pillows can be softer on the skin. Cotton can tug on the skin, which causes wrinkles but satin and silk are more fluid, and can cause less resistance.

Skincare dos and dont

Visit the opticians

If you find yourself squinting when reading or just to look at things, pay a visit to the opticians, as it’s likely you may need glasses or contact lenses to stop you from squinting. As the skin loses its firmness with age, wrinkles form where it has been squeezed (i.e. from squinting).

Wear sunglasses, even in the winter

As mentioned above, squinting can worsen wrinkles, so the same goes when you’re out in daylight or perhaps driving the car. The next time you’re in the car, think about how much you squint during the journey. Perhaps keep a pair of sunglasses in the glove compartment and wear them all of the time to stop squinting and minimise those crows feet. Even in winter!

Skin Care Don’ts

Stop using wipes – keep them for babies’ bottoms only

The one piece of advice I give to nearly every new client at the clinic. Why? In a nutshell, these wipes are no good for your skin - especially around the eye area - as you will find you need to excessively rub your eyes to remove eye shadow and mascara (especially if it is waterproof). You need to allow your eye makeup remover to dissolve the makeup gently as rubbing will cause the collagen to break down around the eye.

Stop rubbing your eye cream in – it’s not a magic eraser

Over the years, we’ve all applied some sort of eye cream around our eyes and it’s likely it was done by rubbing it. Unfortunately, rubbing our wrinkles isn’t going to make them disappear like some sort of eraser!! You need to be gentle... my advice is to use your ring finger, and gently dab a good (recommended) eye cream around the delicate eye area. And don’t forget to let it settle in before applying your makeup too.

Stay out of the sun

We all know that exposing our skin to the sun is not good for us, but as the skin around the eye area is a lot thinner, this means ageing is more rapid, breaking down the collagen and elastin which causes wrinkles and fine lines. So when you’re slapping on the SPF, make sure you remember to apply to the eye area (and wear those sunglasses!)

As I sign off, I’ll leave you with this wonderful quote, from the late, great Erno Laszlo, a Hungarian dermatologist to such Hollywood and society beauties as Audrey Hepburn, (Princess) Grace Kelly of Monaco, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (aka Jackie O) and Marilyn Monroe:

“Beautiful skin requires commitment, not a miracle”

Love your skin...
...get the skin you deserve.
