It's All About Me
Some people wear clothes because they have to. They get up, put something on and off they go.
I love the way clothes make me feel - the confidence they give me - the way they can reflect or transform my mood.
I think with age comes confidence - when you start to feel comfortable in your own skin - when you don’t really care what other people think - when you start to dress for you.
I want to live longer by being fit and healthy and looking after myself.
I care about my appearance and want to make the most of what Mother Nature gave me.
I have a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty and I surround myself with fabulous friends who have come with me on this incredible journey.
Life’s too short to not glam up and party and I want to share my passion for fashion with you... so welcome to my world.
This month saw the continuation of my skincare journey with Jodie and The Grove Clinic. I had a skin analysis, and with the results from that, my skincare programme was put in place. You can read all about my skincare journey in Stop Wishing... Start Doing... where I explain all of the different treatments that I’m having and the products I’m using. And you can read all about Jodie and The Grove Clinic in Destination #FH Avenue.
I also caught up with my good friend Julie Sullivan, who brought me lots of goodies from myshowcase.com - don’t you just love playing with new beauty products?! Julie is their Sales Director and you can read all about her and myshowcase.com in Destination #FH Avenue.
The following week was D Day!!! My final weigh in with Tara to assess how I’d done on this 15 week plan. My goal was to lose two stone and lose the weight which had crept on thanks to a few too many holidays and overindulgence at Christmas.
I am so thrilled to say I smashed the two stone weight target! It just goes to show that with accountability and determination you can achieve anything. Following Tara’s nutrition and exercise advice, I have totally changed my lifestyle and you can too! Just visit Tara’s website tarahammett.com. She has programmes that will suit every pocket from all walks of life! I’m confident she will help you to transform your lifestyle and achieve your goals too. Thanks Tara - you are a legend.
With the weight loss goal completed it was a great excuse to to celebrate, starting with my ‘Victory Shoot’.
My first stop was at Irresistible Beauty to have the full works - manicure and pedicure with gorgeous sparkly nail polish, and a brow and eyelash tint - all carried out by the fabulous Rebecca.
After being buffed, polished and tinted, I hopped across the road to Pimped Up Pins where Hilary and Dann curled my hair with ‘chopstick wands’. Then it was back to the studio, where Jenna was waiting to apply my makeup.
On went the most amazing outfit from Herve Leger, which I bought the first week of my 15 week programme, with the firm goal of fitting in it! I was primed and ready for the photo shoot itself. You can see all the photos and read about how we achieved the overall look in Love It! Rock It! Own It! And you can watch the fabulous behind the scenes footage of the shoot in Lights...Camera...Action...
The following morning the celebrations continued - taking a slightly different direction - as Tara and I hit Kaspas Desserts, where we did our best to work our way through many of their desserts. Between us we tried the sundaes, the waffles and the cookie dough. Fortunately our eyes were not bigger than our bellies, so we left feeling fabulous and quite virtuous that we had tried a bit of everything but hadn’t gone totally over the top! It was an absolutely delicious treat for all my/our hard work and I would definitely recommend a visit.
With my weight loss goal reached and after working hard, my husband and I jetted off to Jamaica for a week of R&R. We flew with Virgin Atlantic - our holiday started the moment we set foot on the plane, with champagne on tap and a nice comfy bed to relax in and watch films.
On arrival we were whisked away to Ocho Rios and Sandals Royal Plantation. The transfer was fascinating as we drove through Jamaica taking in all of the sights, the lush scenery, seeing the Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt’s former school and where Christopher Columbus landed when he discovered Jamaica.
When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by one of our butlers, Chadworth Humphrey, who showed us to our suite which was ultra-inviting with captivating views of the Caribbean Sea. We had dinner under the stars, a few cheeky drinks and off to bed ready to tackle a hard week ahead!
The following morning we were shown around the resort by another of the butlers assigned to us - Audell Grant. He helped us wring every last drop of enjoyment out of our holiday, to plan our week with activities, restaurant reservations and the obligatory visit to the spa (well it would be rude not to!)
And so began a week of complete relaxation, indulging in wonderful food and delicious cocktails. Oh and not forgetting my favourite hobby - snorkelling.
Jamaica is everything you would expect and hope for it to be: reggae music, steel drums, spicy jerk chicken, beautiful beaches, spectacular scenery, with the Jamaicans being so welcoming and friendly.
We met the ultra talented Linton Derrick Headley, who hand carves the most beautiful wooden ornaments. And yes, we did bring a few back! Thankfully we didn’t exceed our luggage allowance with the ornaments, coffee, cakes, chocolate and rum we brought back!
It was a wonderful holiday and I was very sad to leave this beautiful country, but unfortunately all good things come to an end.
So here I am. Back home. Suffering from jet lag. But boy was it worth it.
So what’s next?
Well I have 15 weeks until I jet off on my travels again, so I have set myself another weight loss goal - well I am a woman after all, and it is a female’s prerogative to change our minds and move the goalposts! So it’s a lot of hard work with Tara ahead. But with a holiday to aim for, and the promise of some more celebratory sundaes and waffles to look forward to, I am optimistic I will be able to stay on track.
Until next time...
Don’t be a stranger...
