March Inspiration Board

This month’s board is inspired by Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

All the ideas I get from watching the fabulous runway shows and exhibitions will inspire the decisions I make when putting together my Autumn\Winter wardrobe.

Marni

Marni

Showing at Milan Fashion Week and one of my favourite designers. I absolutely loved their Autumn/Winter 2016 show as there were many looks that I could wear. I particularly like this look with its clever layering: high-waisted trousers and a gorgeous cape in beautiful shades of fawn and forest green, this was teamed with a crisp white shirt which featured fabulous, ballooning sleeves and flat shoes. Comfortable yet chic.
Michael Kors

Michael Kors

Showing at New York Fashion Week. I really enjoyed this show as there were so many looks I loved. It just kept getting better and better! One of my favourite looks is this delicious lilac ensemble. The gorgeous chunky knit looked incredible paired up with the feathered skirt, and the coat just looked dreamy. A matching lilac handbag and white shoes perfectly completed the outfit.
Alice + Olivia

Alice + Olivia

Showing at New York Fashion week. They make such fabulous, wearable designs and this collection was no exception. My favourite outfit is without a doubt this beautiful maxi dress. The cut of the dress is simply divine, with an eye-catching floral print in lovely bright colours. I love how they’ve dressed it down with an embellished denim jacket - so cute, so effortless.
Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli

Showing at Milan Fashion Week. This show was so up my street and this outfit just ticks all the boxes. It’s very 70s in style - I love the flare trousers, the multiple layers of scarves, and the fitted jacket over the open patterned shirt. But best of all I adore the gorgeous animal print fur coat with the detailed fur collar and the platform boots. Such an amazing look!
Michael Kors

Michael Kors

Showing at New York Fashion Week. I also fell in love with another stunning ensemble from the Michael Kors show. This outfit screams glamour. I would just love to rock up at an event wearing this stunning sequined ensemble! The sequined trousers with feather fringe details and the matching feather top look so much fun to wear. Just plain black shoes are all that’s needed for this outfit which demands to be the star of the show!
Chanel

Chanel

Showing at Paris Fashion Week. Don’t you just love a slice of Chanel? Their shows are such a visual feast for the eyes as you never know quite what to expect. My favourite look was this beautiful black cape dress layered over a monochrome striped jumper with opaque black tights and flat shoes. The multiple strands of pearl necklaces and bracelets elevate this outfit to another level. So simple, yet so striking.

‘Feel the fear - but do it anyway’

What's your fave?

Your favourite EXCUSE for why you haven't got what you want?

Here's the most popular:

  • Not enough time
  • Don't know what to do
  • Too busy
  • Too old now
  • Can't be bothered
  • It’s harder for you

All excuses.

So how come some people can do it and you may not?

SELF DISCIPLINE

That's what it boils down to.

You know what you should be doing, but you don't.

To get what you want you need to be willing to pay a price and willing to do the work to get there.
Otherwise you'll spend the REST OF YOUR LIFE in groundhog day feeling the same, moaning about the same things, generally down and miserable.

Or get up and do something.

When you want something, you can't just pay half the price and expect to get the full results you want.
You need to be totally up for it.
You need to make small differences daily.

To be someone you've never been,
(The happy, healthy person you want to be)
You have to do what you've never done before.
You've got to do what average people who NEVER change don't like to do, and that is put some hard work in and change.

You CAN transform yourself.
You just need to practice self discipline.
You need to live with integrity, be truthful and be honest with yourself.

It takes tremendous willpower to do the right thing for yourself and not try to take short cuts.

You may overthink.
You may feel overwhelmed.
You may think it's too hard.

HOWEVER

I've got the kickstart you need.

I can help you with the knowledge of the right thing to do for you.
I can help you with the motivation to do the right thing for you.
I can help you with the support you need to stay on track.

Do YOU want to help YOU?

5 TOP TIPS TO START YOUR TRAINING

I don’t know whether I’m pleased or scared to introduce you to the ‘Cross Stitch Bitch’.

I will let her explain who she is and what she’s all about. HOWEVER - I must stress that she uses ‘fruity language’ and ‘sexual references’ A LOT!

So, if this is not ‘your thing’ and you are easily offended, then please DO NOT READ ON!

You have been warned - so proceed at your own risk!

P.S. If you are brave enough to read on, then make sure you have a stash of Tena Lady at the ready!

Cross Stitch BitchThe Secret Diary of the Cross Stitch Bitch Aged*

*Mind your own fucking business!!!

Bonjour bitches!!

Guess who’s back, back again? nope not Slim Shady, it is me, CSB - by popular demand!!

What a month it’s been. I’m just winding down after the madness of Mother’s Day. I was kept very busy stitching profanities to mark the occasion - yes, amazingly, people do abuse their mothers via the medium of cross stitch on Mothering Sunday.

I find this highly entertaining but I must admit they are all pretty tame apart from one which was the best request I have ever received about the mother-in-law of a certain lady who shall remain nameless.

I can’t possibly repeat what it said to you though (remember that word I’ve been banned from saying on here? rhymes with ‘runt’... yep, you’ve got it) but you will be able to see it on any of my pages and a gold star goes to anyone who can guess who commissioned it!!

On the subject of mothers, let’s talk about my own mother, who is lovely and not a ‘runt’ at all.

After I had posted a particularly offensive comment, along with a stitch of a massive penis, one customer messaged me this: “Your poor mother – I hope she is totally oblivious about what it is you do.”

Actually she is not at all oblivious. In fact it is she who taught me to cross stitch – well, the technique is hers – the pictures and the words are aaaaall mine.

And yes, like most people’s mothers would, she thinks they are totally offensive and disgusting and refuses to like any of my pages - but credit where it’s due she will pick me up a frame or twenty if she happens to come across any on her travels.

For this I am very grateful and it will ensure that I don’t put her in an old people’s home when the time comes (I hear Shady Pines is a good one though Ma, so if you’re reading this and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll keep those frames coming my dear)!

Now I know a lot of you will have been on the edge of your seat after last month’s column about the vagina stitch request I received, and a few people have asked me about it. It was for a transgender female who was transitioning to a man so I was asked to stitch a vagina with a line through it (ban the vadge if you will) along with a penis (yay, long live the willy).

If you take a look at my page you will see that I did in fact complete the vagina (hairless of course, this is not the 80s). And when I showed it to the customer they were absolutely thrilled and even told me I must have seen a few before to get it so realistic looking.

Well I must admit I haven’t actually seen a vagina up close and personal in real life apart from in porn films but I think the stitch clearly demonstrates that I can be very dexterous with a hand mirror if it’s necessary for my art.

À bientôt!

Until next time ‘runts’!!
