It's All About Me
Some people wear clothes because they have to. They get up, put something on and off they go.
I love the way clothes make me feel - the confidence they give me - the way they can reflect or transform my mood.
I think with age comes confidence - when you start to feel comfortable in your own skin - when you don’t really care what other people think - when you start to dress for you.
I want to live longer by being fit and healthy and looking after myself.
I care about my appearance and want to make the most of what Mother Nature gave me.
I have a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty and I surround myself with fabulous friends who have come with me on this incredible journey.
Life’s too short to not glam up and party and I want to share my passion for fashion with you... so welcome to my world.
Not a lot of people like January. There’s the big comedown after Christmas - back to work - gloomy weather and a long wait until pay day arrives. Need I continue...?!
I like January. A whole brand new year, stretching ahead, waiting to be filled with lots of exciting events. It’s a new start and a chance to improve upon the previous year. The sales - everyone loves a bargain. And most importantly - it’s my birthday!
I don’t look at it as “OMG I’m a year older!” I think, “I’m still here - I’m fit and healthy - let’s enjoy life!”
After being spoilt rotten all day my husband took me to Quay 3, Swansea. This was my first visit and it didn’t disappoint.
With panoramic views of the marina and delicious food - not to mention the superb service - it was a wonderful evening and definitely worth another visit.
My ongoing training programme with Tara has been aggravated by a back injury, sustained during a very undignified fall on the wet decking in our garden a few weeks previously. Apparently my husband has CCTV footage of this temporary fall from grace.... He will be promptly divorced should this EVER see the light of day!
Not one to be sidetracked from my training, I took myself (and injured back) off to see Luisa from Back On Track Sports Therapy, who combined gentle massage with Ultrasound Treatment. When finished she taped me up with purple sports injury tape which perfectly matched my nail varnish. A true fashionista - injured or otherwise - always!
A week later I visited Simon Webborn at the Swansea Clinic of Natural Medicine, for more treatment on my back. . So far, so good! Onwards and upwards with the training - taking care to avoid *that* decking - and being mindful of the injury so we can work around it.
The following week I had my hair extensions removed by Sophie Watkins so I could have my hair colour refreshed at Pimped Up Pins.
My hair stylist Hilary was away sunning herself on a beach, leaving me in the capable hands of Faye and Hayley, who did a fabulous job.
With my hair coloured, trimmed and back in tip top condition, Sophie replaced my hair extensions, which was a huge relief, as I felt like I had no hair left when they were removed!
With my hair back to its best, it was time to attend Tara Hammett’s first ever Fitness Seminar at The Dragon Hotel, Swansea.
The night was a great success. Full of enthusiastic people, all wanting to get fit and healthy, and to become the best possible version of themselves.
Well done Tara - you are a true inspiration!
A few days later I met the talented James Richards of Walford-Richards Designs at his studio in Swansea.
I talked to him about his brand and saw all the gorgeous products he creates. You can read all about James in Destination #FH Avenue.
The following week I visited one of my favourite restaurants in Swansea - Coast Italia. This is a very special place for me as it’s where I held the launch party for emmaheaven.com. They always make me feel very welcome. You can read all about this wonderful restaurant in Destination #FH Avenue.
All too soon it was time for this month’s photo shoot and the inspiration was “The Oscars”.
For this shoot I had a red carpet set made - complete with my own logo - and Oscar awards made for the entire team. Well you have to do things properly - don’t you?!
A visit to Irresistible Beauty meant my nails were as good as any A-lister on the red carpet thanks to Lauren and Jess - and I always get the ‘star’ treatment!
This shoot was lots of fun as we dreamt of what it would be like to win such a prestigious award. We let our imaginations run riot!
After the shoot it was time to take off the dress, remove the makeup and have my hair taken down. The set was packed away - all ready for normal life to resume - but it was SO MUCH FUN while it lasted! I only wish we had had a ‘wrap party’ to continue into the night, complete with a survivors’ breakfast...
Until next time...
Don’t be a stranger...
