It's All About Me
Some people wear clothes because they have to. They get up, put something on and off they go.
I love the way clothes make me feel - the confidence they give me - the way they can reflect or transform my mood.
I think with age comes confidence - when you start to feel comfortable in your own skin - when you don’t really care what other people think - when you start to dress for you.
I want to live longer by being fit and healthy and looking after myself.
I care about my appearance and want to make the most of what Mother Nature gave me.
I have a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty and I surround myself with fabulous friends who have come with me on this incredible journey.
Life’s too short to not glam up and party and I want to share my passion for fashion with you... so welcome to my world.
It's All About Me
After the madness of my launch party, I decided to take a few days off (mostly thanks to 'tender tootsies' from celebrating into the wee small hours!). With a few days to rest and recharge I was soon fired up and raring to go.
My personal training resumed the following week, where the lovely Tara Hammett eased me back in gently (NOT!).
I am now in serious training mode in preparation for my summer holiday, so my nutrition and exercise has to be spot on.
I've had a few hiccups along the way. A shoulder injury persists, so I visit Luisa Davies of Back On Track Sports Therapy once a month to receive ultrasound and massage. Despite the discomfort, a visit to Luisa is always fun. She makes me laugh with her funny stories and hilarious take on life.
Not wanting to be left out, my back has also got in on the act. Fortunately Tara has a few tricks up her sleeve to deal with this - methods include sitting on me!
Setting my injuries to one side, I visited Cafe TwoCann in SA1 with family and friends. I absolutely adore this restaurant. I love the atmosphere, its marina-side setting - and the food is delicious. It is definitely worth a visit.
The first weekend in July was my beautiful friend Jenna Kelly's wedding. I was thrilled to be part of her special day when she became Mrs Jenna Wilson, marrying the lovely James. The venue - Margam Orangery was picturesque. The food - simply delicious. And yes, my healthy eating went out of the window that day. As for the bride - well she looked beautiful, elegant and understated. She's one very classy lady.
It was a fabulous day but most importantly it was Jenna and James' dream come true.
The second week of July saw my first visit to Kris Brown's Pimped Up Pins hair salon, where my lovely hair stylist Hilary has recently started working.
I had such a warm welcome. The salon was buzzing - the staff are really friendly and there is a great atmosphere. A real fun place to have your hair pampered.
So look out Kris Brown - I will be back!
The following week I hosted a thank you night out for everyone who helped with my launch party.
I booked a booth at Peppermint Bar Swansea and we hit the town. It was an amazing night from beginning to end. Everybody looked great, (seems a passion for fashion is contagious...). Everyone partied, danced and behaved well - except for Mike's "Del Boy moment!" The next day was definitely a pyjama day.
This month I have made a couple of visits to my favourite beauty salon, Irresistible Beauty.
The first visit was for a manicure. Lucy - the owner - was having her baby scan that morning and so we decided to see if I could guess the sex of the baby in the choice of my nail colour. Pink or blue. I didn't sit on the fence by choosing purple... I chose pink. And was I right? Naturally. Congratulations Lucy and Raymond. Little Mason is going to have a baby sister.
The second was in preparation for my photo shoot. After a brow tint, I had a manicure and pedicure in a beautiful pinky/red polish with glitter - very eye catching. And very 'Dorothy' from the Wizard of Oz. I managed to resist the temptation to click my fingers, and not my heels, nor say "there's no place like home!"
This month's photo shoot was held at Chic Studio Swansea.
The shoot introduces a new section of my online fashion magazine: "Destination #FH Avenue", including a fabulous "Reader Offer" which you will not want to miss out on!
At the shoot were photographer Richie Crossley, Hilary Jones (hair stylist), Peter Middleton from Fine Diamonds Wales, my husband Adrian and my sons Jack and Oliver. We had such a fun-filled day. A delectable buffet from Marks and Spencer, plenty of fizz and dance music, all of which created a great party atmosphere.
Thank you to:
Richie Crossley, for your patience and the fun you bring - not to mention the beautiful photos you create.
Hilary Jones, you never fail to amaze me with the beautiful hair styles you create.
Flowers by Arrangement Swansea, for the gorgeous red roses you supplied.
Peter Middleton, for the diamonds. Just one word - WOW!
Adrian and my boys, for your support in everything I do.
To capture the fun we had on the day at the shoot, we made a behind the scenes video. It's waiting for you in "Lights...Camera...Action..."
Until next time...
Don't be a stranger...
