In this monthly column, I’m going to write from a male’s perspective about the many and varied happenings in the world of fashion.
At no point will I tell you how to dress. I’ll just bring you the wonderful, colourful people who live and breathe fashion and style.
On a personal note, I do like to get dressed up and look smart when I have an event or night out - but I also love nothing more than my comfy chilling out clothes!
Every month I highlight profiles I believe will bring eclectic, awe-inspiring photos and happiness to your Instagram feed.
This man is a model, a fashion icon and the owner of one truly great jawline! He was scouted at the age of 15. From this he has worked for a huge number of high end companies such as D&G, Jack Wills, Vivienne Westwood and also became the face of Calvin Klein. Impressive list hey?
It was Cheshire’s time at Marks & Spencer which boasts a huge stat, Marks and Spencer report that after he became the face (and body!) of their swimwear campaign, their sales rose by a staggering 50%.
This guy is a full-on, bona fide, bang on trend fashion icon. Alongside these professional accomplishments his partner in crime is none other than the stunning Pixie Lott. Talk about strong genes.
Pinpoint the look
- Roll neck jumper
- Leather jackets
- Blazer or a smart coat
- Dark solid colours on the bottom half
Darren is a TV host, columnist and self-proclaimed dog lover so what’s not to like?! Oh and I forgot to mention that his sartorial style is truly great. Modern, urban and smart are all terms that can be used to describe how he dresses, yet only scratches the surface.
What Darren does to make his outfits sing style - and which so many people can get wrong - is he gets his colours spot on. Whether that is his matching colours, or when they contrast, they work and very well at that.
Darren worked on ITV’s main flagship show “This Morning” as a style presenter and also has huge viewing numbers on a large range of networks covering the UK, the US and Ireland.
TV aside, Darren Kennedy has a passion for looking good and fashion. He has hosted a number of fashion launches including Hugo Boss. His collaboration with Louis Copeland produced six sell-out suit collections.
A very stylish guy who has an eye for business and doing well for himself. A heady combination.
Pinpoint the look:
- Matches colours such as beige for smart wear
- Contrarily contrasts vibrant bright colour together for a more casual look
- Braves check trousers
- Shearling jackets
- Big big hair
Things to do in order to rock your 2017
Reading helps you unwind from day to day stresses, learn words you never knew existed before (a Thesaurus is a ‘must have’ for any wordsmiths!) and it blissfully transports you to another world away from the modern day world of Facebook and social media.
- Say yes more often
Whether that’s to work, nights out, holidays away, going to see that band, or just having fun. Modern day life needs you to take more chances so say yes to things that you may have had second thoughts about before.
- Find a kick ass morning playlist
What I've learned in the last few months is days go better when you start off with a few well chosen songs to get your day off to a belter, and a great mindset .
- Keep motivation at an all time high
Ask yourself, really? Do you want to be the ‘New Year, new me’ person to only lose touch with your motivation after a few months. Make 2017 the year to work hard at whatever you want to succeed in.
These I'm personally going to follow this year, so how about we do it together?
Real Men Read
This month’s issue fits right in with with the latest changes in my life, I have just started a new job where I need to learn and hone new skills.
Sell Or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life, is a book by the New York Times bestselling author Grant Cardone. This book explains the theory that everything in life is a sale and everyone a salesperson.
This concept is that all day and everyday you’re selling a product, whether that’s yourself, or your employer, your current fitness regime, or selling the idea of the girl you’re chatting up in a bar saying yes to a date. This books teaches you that you must sell yourself as a person, sell your ideas or just sell your conversation enough for the other person to listen and believe in what you say.
Interesting idea hey? I highly recommend this read as it’s put me in a great place mentally, maybe it could help you too.
