September 2016

Love it! Rock it! Own it!

When I get dressed I always think: "Where am I going and what fashion mood am I in?"

The answers to these questions determine which choices I make with my clothes, shoes and accessories - ultimately giving me an outfit I can feel confident and stylish in.

"Fashion shouldn't be taken too seriously. You've got to have fun with it, to make it work"
Every edition I am going to share with you:

Let your imagination run riot. Have fun, glam up - Love it! Rock it! Own it!

**What’s in my Wardrobe**

This month we are supporting the wonderful charity, Jeans for Genes Day which takes place on September 23rd. You can get involved by visiting www.jeansforgenesday.org

With this in mind, it was time to don the denim - as the charity’s strapline is: Wear Jeans, Change Lives.

Decisions, decisions... Like most people nowadays, I have a ridiculously enormous collection of jeans in various styles and colours - so which ones would make the (boot) cut?!

I decided on some Gestuz crop denim flares which would show off my amazing Chiara shoes by Sophia Webster - a black suede and iridescent printed butterfly wing sandal. So visually stunning and just fabulous to wear - they make such a statement!

I wore Rosetta Getty’s Ottoman top which is designed with a flattering off-the-shoulder silhouette; my arm candy was courtesy of a beautiful patent Saffiano leather bag with a metal and stone embellishment from Prada.

Nails: Rebecca from Irresistible Beauty created a fabulous iridescent design to echo the fabulous Sophia Webster sandals. First she painted my nails with a base coat in Shellac - Grape gum, with Blackcurrant Strands Glitter for a final iridescent flourish.

Thanks Rebecca, the result was the most colourful and visually stunning nails I have ever had. (Boy have you got your work cut out to be able to top these talons!)

Book yourself into the award-winning Irresistible Beauty, Treboeth, Swansea on 01792 773887 to let them work their mani/pedi magic on your nails too.

Hair: Created and styled by Hilary Jones from Pimped Up Pins hair salon. I’ll hand you over to Hilary to explain how she achieved this month’s fun look.

**Hil-hair-ious styling**

“Ola”Hilary

Jeans for Genes Day - Emma wanted a minimal, clean look.

Emma’s hair was prepared using straighteners to smooth the hair ready to place into a ponytail.

All the hair was brushed back with no fringe - bobbled - with a piece of hair wrapped around the band to disguise it, and pinned in place.

Two inches down the ponytail, another band was placed tightly, with the hair between the two bands pulled out to create a ball. Again the band was disguised with hair.

I repeated the process once more, sprayed with hairspray, using a toothbrush to smooth the small hairs around the hairline.

A simple, fun and very striking look.

Thank you Hilary for creating a fun and fabulous masterpiece.

Hilary is available to cut, style and/or colour your hair at Pimped Up Pins, Treboeth, Swansea. 01792 799775.

Makeup: Created and applied by Jenna Kelly. I’ll hand you over to Jenna to tell you how she interpreted this month’s Jeans for Genes ‘Denim Look’.

**’Jenna-rate’ the look**

JennaJeans for Genes Day!

Now when I think about a denim inspired shoot I think ‘Calvin Klein Campaign’... Natural, bronzed, glossy skin and bare eyes... YUM! I wanted all of this for Emma but with a little fun thrown in!

Taking inspiration from the hair style created by the lovely Hilary - a sleek ponytail with a twist - I decided that my twist would be a blue lip!

Needless to say I kept this ‘twist’ secret from Emma until she looked in the mirror for the reveal. You really could say the look came ‘out of the blue’ when she saw it! Coloured lips scare people sooo much (even me sometimes); but they add so much fun and a little high fashion to an otherwise barefaced look. The key thing with this look is the ‘bare face’; keeping everything else simple, so there’s much less room for error.

So with super glossy skin, a strong brow, and a set of fluffy lashes, I applied Mac’s Matte Royal Lipstick... and the whole look just popped! Love it!
