June Inspiration Board
This month’s board was inspired by one of my readers, Wendy Thomas. Wendy has supported the magazine from day one; every month when the photo and video shoot were released, Wendy would always comment on how fabulous I looked and how it would be a dream come true for her to have a makeover and photo shoot.
Making A Dream Become Reality
The Big Reveal
The Photo Shoot
Wendy’s experience and reaction was the catalyst to creating ‘The Ministry of Glamour’. For some time I have been thinking of offering readers the opportunity to be ‘glammed up’. Jenna reaffirmed my thinking when she said “Let’s do this again”, along with the idea of sending them for a fabulous meal at the end of it. I put this to Hilary. She too was enthusiastic about repeating the experience. So with my thinking cap firmly on, ‘The Ministry Of Glamour’ was born.
I am proud to present to you, the first member of ‘The Ministry Of Glamour’, Wendy Thomas.
Please step through the door to see her in all her glamorous glory...
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE THE NEXT MEMBER OF ‘THE MINISTRY OF GLAMOUR’?
All you need to do is tell me in no more than 150 words why you deserve to be the next member of M.O.G.
You will be booked in for your makeover and photoshoot; followed by a meal for two, with a bottle of wine, at Coast Italia, High Street, Swansea.
We will then interview you to see how you enjoyed the experience which will be featured in the September Issue of emmaheaven.com
Let us make your dreams become reality!
‘You are what you eat’
Pancakes don’t have to be unhealthy, laden with sugar and unnecessary calories. Here is a great recipe for a savoury pancake, that will keep hunger at bay for hours.
1 egg white
1 tbsp psyllium husk / milled flaxseed
¼ cup coconut/almond milk
Mix the egg, husk & milk and cook like a pancake in a hot pan on both sides.
Fill with the following:
1 slice good quality ham
1 sliced tomato
1 tbsp grated cheese
Who said eating healthy had to be boring?
Eat amazing... because you ARE!

How many times do you think I've received this message in my inbox?
'Tar, I've been meaning to message you for ages"
But until now, none of them have...
I hear it time and time again...
So have you been meaning to message me to see what I could do to HELP you?
Advise you on what to do to lose weight?
Point you in the right direction?
If so, I'm giving YOU the opportunity to tell me what you struggle with.
Imagine all those people out there who MEANT TO get in touch... .if they did ask me for help 12 months ago... or 6 months ago... or even 7 days ago...
What did you do over the last 7 days to get great results?
Maybe, just maybe you have done NOTHING and you're thinking:
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOOO
Maybe you're repeating the word CAN'T too much.
Well... let's change that into CAN.
‘Knowledge is power’
Fad diets and what not to do
- Do not go hungry.
- Do not replace nutritious foods with shakes and pills.
- Do not constantly weigh yourself.
- Do not spend endless hours in the gym.
Ever been on the latest diet, got all excited, spent over £100 on a few shakes and bars, lasted 2-3 days,? Became so hungry you could hardly speak, then caved? Demolished every goody in sight and decided “Ah, that’s not for me, I’ll just stick to what I was doing”?
That’s the problem with fad diets.
Quite simply, they do not work!
They’re too extreme

Work towards the body of your dreams

Let’s talk about skin
It’s the largest organ of the body yet most of us don’t give it the attention and respect it deserves. A good skincare routine is essential in maintaining our skin’s health, youthfulness and radiant glow.
Not only is our routine important, but the products we use play a huge part; and it is possible to look your best with a little effort.
I am going to share with you a few basic tips to keep your skin healthy.
A skincare routine should include basic steps of cleansing, toning and moisturising. There are hundreds of harsh exfoliators on the market and we have all most likely used them at some point, however exfoliating isn’t necessary and is actually damaging to our skin.
We need to naturally exfoliate and there are products which encourage this. What we shouldn’t be doing is aggressively scrubbing our skin and exposing the new fresh skin cells too soon.
This will increase dryness, redness and inflammation - especially with environmental changes and our seaside location - many of us take advantage of our beautiful Welsh scenery and coastline and spend lots of time outside walking our dogs or running.
It is vital we protect our skin.
Cleansing with Environs moisturising cleansing lotion will not only clean the skin, but with no harsh ingredients in it to harm the skin, it also has the benefit of vitamin A which is vital in any skincare regime. We will talk more about that in the future.
Toner. Most people I meet don’t see the importance of a toner, and I will admit neither did I until I became a skincare specialist. A toner plays a huge part in helping your moisturiser penetrate deeper into the skin layers, allowing it to work where it is really needed.
A toner shouldn’t sting, which this is usually down to a high (dehydrating) alcohol content. Environ offers a moisturising toner with no chemicals, no alcohol, no nasty ingredients; just the ingredients that work and are good for your skin, helping that moisturiser get right down to where it needs to its work.
Moisturiser. Apply a moisturiser, always. Choose a good moisturiser to keep your skin well-hydrated and soft. Moisturise your skin at least twice a day: morning and evening. Pay particular attention to all of the exposed skin - our neck and chest area are often forgotten.
Hands: these are not only exposed but are regularly in and out of water when washing, which increases the dryness.
With Environ moisturisers there is a step up programme, so you would start on number 1 and climb the stages, constantly increasing your vitamin A (that all important ingredient).
The last stage of your skincare routine should always be a sun protection factor (SPF). We need to protect our skin all year round. Sun and light sources are one of the biggest aging factors. If it’s windy and raining and we are heading out for a brisk coastal walk, is an SPF our immediate thought? Probably not! Let’s make it our priority to include it in our daily beauty routine.
Some of us may have particular skin complaints such as rosacea, psoriasis or eczema. Lots of walkers, and people who spend a lot of their time outdoors, have dry skin conditions and suffer with lots of facial broken capillaries, (those little tiny blood vessels that often appear around the nose and cheeks).
Extra precautions need to be taken and good skincare is even more important to you.
Here at The Grove Skin Clinic we have many products and treatments to help with all of these conditions and more.
I offer skin consultations where we take a full history and talk through the different solutions to your concerns.
With good advice and the introduction of some simple products, a lot of these concerns improve very quickly and easily.
Environ is a prescription skincare range developed by a consultant plastic surgeon, Mr Des Fernandes, whose practice is based in South Africa. It is distributed through the iiaa (International Institute for anti-ageing). You need to see a skincare specialist to start using it, with products starting from £18.
