‘You are what you eat’

You will impress everyone with this little beauty. No-one will you believe you that they are guilt free, a recipe filled with nutritious ingredients.

Burrito Stuffed Peppers

Hurricane Tara recipeINGREDIENTS

500g Turkey mince
1 Chopped onion
1 Carton chopped tomatoes
1 Tin black beans
1 Pack cauliflower ‘rice’
½ Cup grated cheese
1 tspn crushed chilli
Salt & pepper to taste
Peppers

HOW TO:

Melt some coconut oil in a hot pan.
Add your turkey mince and onion and cook through.
Add your chilli, tomato, black beans & seasoning.
Cook for 4-5 minutes.
Add your cauli rice and half of the grated cheese, give it a stir and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
In the meantime, slice your peppers in half and de-seed.
Fill your peppers with the burrito mixture.
Sprinkle each one with a little cheese and pop in the oven on 160-180 degrees centigrade for 15-20 minutes.
While the peppers are baking, cook a load of your fave green veggies in a hot pan, stir fry style.
Enjoy two of the stuffed pepper halves with your veggies.
Yum!

We focus on nutrition and working OUT... but when do you actually plan actual WORKING 'IN'??

We were chatting about stress and its effect on weight loss Monday evening in the Life TARAnsformer meeting, so I thought I'd share some tips with you.

Stress is a major contributor to weight gain for many reasons... even dieting and exercise is a stressor and can make you hold on to fat.

Whether you feel mentally stressed or just permanently on the go but feel ok... we still need to manage stress.

I've been feeling it too and part of my balance is making sure I do the chill out time too.

An afternoon siesta - I've been having a few of these recently too.

This is also something that I recommend and go into more detail about in the 7 day detox program.

This program is POWERFUL

You still eat plenty of REAL FOOD but you also start to introduce the balance to your lifestyle.

Like I've said, we all focus on our body goals and losing weight but what we really want is to feel happy, positive and confident.

‘Knowledge is power’

Stress

  • When our bodies are under stress, we release more cortisol (stress hormone), this puts our body in fat storing mode not fat burning.
  • When stressed some people crave fatty, salty or sugary foods. As you can imagine this also has a huge impact on your fat loss journey. It is said prolonged periods of stress can alter your blood sugar levels, having an effect on mood swings and energy levels.
  • A 20 minute gentle stroll can help lower cortisol levels.
  • Get a good book/audio book, start your mindset journey. A book I highly recommend is ‘Loving What Is’ by Byron Katie. Read the extract below for an insight into this amazing book.

How many of you can confidently leave the house without makeup? And I don’t just mean a bit of eyeliner and mascara! I’m talking ‘The Full Monty’. No primer, foundation, bronzer, eye makeup, lipstick. Nothing. Barefaced. Totally and utterly naked!

What a revelation it would be if you could just pop to the shops without having to paint on your ‘mask’; and wouldn’t you just love to face the world without hiding under layers of makeup?

Maybe if we all took better care of the ‘largest organ’ we have - our skin - maybe this wouldn’t be such a far fetched idea after all.

This is where I come in to steer you through the dazzling and dizzying minefield of skincare products. What was that about the paradox of choice?! So many products are thrust upon us with mind boggling marketing jargon. It’s confusing and misleading. I shall break it down and simplify it for you with my skincare do’s and don’ts.

Skin Care Do’s & Don’ts

Do: Let’s look inside your bathroom cabinet or wherever you keep your lotions and potions. Ever check the expiry date?
Do they have one?
If it’s a groundbreaking ingredient and it’s going to solve a major skin concern or help take ten years off you, do you think at some point it might go off?
Of course it will. All good products have an expiry date. Make sure you check yours to ensure you are not covering your face with an out of date product which won’t do its job properly.

Don’t: Please don’t get caught up by the overwhelming hype surrounding beauty products. One which really grinds on me is the need for ‘Night cream’. WHY? Can somebody please tell me what our skin needs so differently at night that it doesn’t need during the day.
Answers on a postcard please...
If I hear a plausible answer, I will go out of my way to question the companies I deal with as to why they do or why they don’t do one. In the meantime, save your £££s and just invest in a really good moisturiser.
